Our alumni know that an adaptable leadership style is critical when leading a diverse, multicultural team. On Oct. 9 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, five alumni honed their leadership skills under the wing of CEO coach Ranjan De Silva at the Mentorship skills – Leadership / Coaching / Mentorship workshop. In the How to Handle Rejection in Sales workshop in Hong Kong, 14 scholars and alumni learned to display confidence throughout the sales process despite setbacks. Minesh Pore, Global Sources' Director of International Business and Head of Startup Launchpad (SULP), facilitated the workshop held Oct. 15. Read more.

Mr. Hinrich wins prestigious BGS Entrepreneurial Achievement Award
Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS), the international honor society for the top global business programs in the world, chose Mr. Merle A Hinrich as winner of the 2018 Entrepreneurial Achievement Award. The elite honor was bestowed on him because of his innovative global business achievements in combination with lifetime service to humanity. Read about the awards ceremony here.
Alumni Updates
Continuing to lead - Celeste Zeng (China, NUS MBA '20) has been elected by her peers as president of the MBA Entrepreneurship Club at National University of Singapore. One of her first actions as president was to invite Mr. Hinrich to speak about his journey as an entrepreneur. Mr. Hinrich captivated the audience of future business leaders with stories from his career in international trade. Read more about the event here.

As a reporter for Deal Street Asia, a well-known financial news platform, Juliet Shwe Gaung (Myanmar, HKBU MAIJS ’12) is committed to contributing to Myanmar’s emergence in the international economy. Plus, under Juliet’s leadership and support as chapter leader, the Myanmar alumni chapter is ever active, having had multiple events in the past several months.
“I can make a difference by making Myanmar more visible to the world, and bringing investments to my home turf,” said Juliet. Read more about her here.

#New scholar
HFAA welcomes the Foundation’s newest scholar, Raksa Chan (Cambodia, VGU GPEM ’21).  Raksa's scholarship is co-sponsored by HF and Suntex (Cambodia), an affiliate of Luen Thai (Hong Kong). He will depart for Vietnam in November for the Global Production Engineering Management MA program at the Vietnamese-German University.
Upcoming Events
Hinrich Foundation alumni and scholars will be applying lessons learned about international trade at Global Sources Lifestyle Show, happening Oct. 27-30 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. 

They will be helping Hinrich Foundation's Export Trade Assistance team showcase finely crafted, innovative gifts, home furnishings and fashion accessories
at the New Sourcing Markets Pavilionthe Foundation's curated exhibition at show. Read more about the pavilion here.

Working with them will be fellow scholar Abdul Rahoof Kaliiyarakath Kakatharayil (India, HKBU MAIJS ’19), and alumni Phonevilay 'Katink' Keopaseuth (Laos, UPLB MSDevC ’16) and Ly Nguyen (Vietnam, HKBU MAIJS ’14), who will be part of the Export Trade Assistance team at the show.
