May is International Internal Audit Awareness month. As an internal audit professional, you play an important role in raising awareness and elevating the profession. It is expected that all internal auditors have a responsibility to do something during the month of May to raise the awareness about the profession and elevate the status of the profession.

The Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa (IIA SA) supports all efforts to raise awareness of the internal audit function and its value. The aim is not only to dispel misperceptions of the profession, but also to enhance the business community's knowledge of the essential role internal auditing plays in strong organizational governance, internal control and effective risk management.

We implore all members of the IIA SA to participate in the campaign to raise awareness of the role of the Internal Audit profession. Please take this opportunity to advocate the importance of internal auditing to your co-workers and other stakeholders.
