The presentation will look at what is new with
Landview Version 3. LandView is a WindowsNT/95/98/2000 program designed for the
non-GIS user to view GIS data in Minnesota. Landview is written using Microsoft
Visual Basic and ESRI Map Objects Lite 2. Landview has a GUI that makes
communicating where the user wants to see data very straight forward, while the
application finds the associated data pieces, displaying them as one seamless
piece of information using predefined symbology. The paper will show how
Landview makes it easy for novice users to set the map extent.
An ArcView extension is provided to use Landview with ArcView using DDE. Landview also has a GPS interface that supports NMEA standards. The new functionality adds the ability to customize what data is available to Landview including Background Data, Overlay Information, and Lists. These setting can then be saved and retrieved similar to a project in ArcView.
