In 1994, and again in late 2000, the Consortium and the Governor's Council on Geographic Information conducted surveys of the state's GIS data needs. Although data set names and order varied slightly between the surveys, the top data needs remain virtually the same. The encouraging fact is that progress has been made on virtually all of the priority data sets over the last decade. This presentation describes the current status of the top 10 most needed data including: soils, elevation, digital imagery (DOQs, air photos, satellite imagery), parcel information (Public Land Survey, section corners, section points and ownership), land use/cover, and several water-related data sets. LMIC is seeking assistance in providing status information to build more web-based inventories of available data, modeled after its soils page at: www.lmic.state.mn.us/chouse/soil.html.
