Alan D. Robinette (1993)
Mr. Robinette, founded the Minnesota Land Management Information Center (LMIC) and was its Director until his untimely death in 1992. He was instrumental in designing and developing the EPPL software package, and in applying GIS technology to the most pressing planning issues facing Minnesota during the 1970ís including: mineral development, resource management, power plant siting, recreation planning, wetland preservation, wildlife management, and scenic resource protection.
Award Inscription: Pioneer GIS Designer and Builder, Inspiring Leader of LMIC. For his care, concern energy and always insightful and articulate approach to the advancement of GIS. Al built an awareness and market for GIS by inspiring decision-makers and promoting many innovative applications.
