MN GIS/LIS Polaris Leadership Award Winner
Mike Dolbow
Minnesota Department of Agriculture - 2011
As a strong advocate for continuous improvement of state government and statewide geospatial coordination, Mike represents the next generation of leadership for the Minnesota GIS community. He co-chaired the Strategic Planning Committee of the Governor's Council on Geographic Information and worked to develop the vision for our new Minnesota Geographic Information Office. He continues to guide the new Minnesota system as it unfolds, taking action to ensure that all stakeholders are involved through more open discussions and more relevant connections between advisory councils and committees. Mike has also been a leader within the Consortium by writing newsletter articles, chairing conference sub-committees, and contributing presentations. His enthusiasm and interest to promote the effective and efficient use of enterprise GIS tools, data sharing, and governance can be seen throughout his service to state government and the wider geospatial community. He says, “If I give back to Minnesota half of what this community has given to me, I will consider my career a success.”
