Lancer Label Celebrates 50 Years in the Printing Business
PSDA member Lancer Label, a custom label expert, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this month. The company has come a long way in half a century. In the beginning, founder Harry Riley of Riley Advertising started a labeling business that focused on selling two- and three- color labels for the banking industry. Though Lancer Label was founded in 1964, the company didn't acquire that name, or its first printing press, until four years later. The rest is history.
"When Riley started Lancer Label, he had no idea the impact his new business would have," said Fred Nelson, General Sales Manager, Lancer Label. "For 50 years, Lancer Label has been providing high-quality labeling and shipping solutions for businesses, and we're hoping to continue Riley's legacy for at least another 50 years. We're proud of the longevity of the company, and the excellent work we continue to produce."
Since Riley started his company, Lancer Label has produced industry-leading labels and stickers for companies across the United States. With this anniversary, Lancer Label both celebrates the past, and looks forward to a future of innovative labeling strategies.

Navitor Upgrades Existing Machines, Adds New Presses
As a part of the company's dedication to innovation and quality, PSDA member Navitor is excited to announce its investment in several pieces of equipment. This investment includes both upgrading existing machines and adding new printing presses throughout the company's production locations.
Navitor's specialty products division has already added an Agfa Jetti full-color ink jet printer to their production floor, and more of Navitor's equipment additions and upgrades are still to come. Navitor East is upgrading its HP Indigo presses to the latest HP models. Navitor Southeast is upgrading one anicolor press from printing with conventional ink to printing with vibrant UV ink. Navitor Midwest is adding a six-color Komori UV press with in-line coating capabilities. Navitor Folders is adding a Bograma rotary diecutter and partnering with Corporate Graphics International in adding a HP Indigo 10000 press.
“As the needs of our customers continues to evolve — from the products and services they value, to how those things are provided to them, the customer experience — we must continue to evolve and improve as well in order to address those needs and increase our value to our customers,” said Linda Cox.
This equipment will help Navitor in providing best-in-class products, quality, and services to its customers and marks an important step forward in the continued evolution of Navitor.
Century Label Introduces Fully Dissolvable Eco-Friendly Label Stock
Century Label recently launched SmartSolve, a new line of custom-printable dissolving label stock. The water-dispersible formulation of the labels allows them to fully dissolve in any water temperature in 30 seconds or less, leaving no paper and, most importantly, no adhesive residue behind. Century Label's SmartSolve Labels are a great addition to any business in the eco-friendly and natural product market. They have a shelf life of 12 months and work in environments from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 176 degrees Fahrenheit. They are also compliant with 21 CFR 175.105 regulations concerning indirect food contact and are available in both flexographic and digital print styles.
"We've seen interest in SmartSolve across many industries," said Heidi Chambers, director of sales for Century Label. "I think that SmartSolve's ability to convey ecological awareness and ‘forward thinking' to the market really interests a company looking to take a ‘standard' part of their packaging and make a statement. It works great for packaging that can be repurposed or recycled, since the label and adhesive removes easily with just water."
Located in Bowling Green, Ohio, Century Label has more than 30 years of award-winning experience providing custom printed products to businesses nationwide. Century Label specializes in precision printing and customer care.
