Distributors: Complete New Survey to be Featured in August issue of Print Solutions

Be recognized as an industry leader in Print Solutions, the official magazine of PSDA. We are currently reaching out to companies asking for their participation in the 2011 "Top Distributors" survey, the results of which will be published in the August 2011 issue of Print Solutions. The only way to potentially be featured in our influential, comprehensive and popular "Top Distributors" coverage is to respond to this short survey by June 30, 2011. Print Solutions is distributed to more than 9,000 industry professionals.

To complete this survey, you'll need your organization's total sales figures for your 2009 and 2010 fiscal years, so make sure to have those numbers handy. In addition, take the time to share your insights on the survey's final page regarding your past year in business and the year ahead. How did you hear about PSDA?
Envisage's involvement with PSDA dates back to 1983 and NBFA. As separate companies, both have been members of both NBFA and DMIA (predecessors of PSDA), and were encouraged by Bob Ohr, Ross Barker and Matt Sanderson to become a part of the renewed energy that is taking place today.

What are your primary reasons for joining PSDA?
Envisage's leaders are hopeful that the educational opportunities PSDA offers will assist them in guiding their companies into the future. They want to give back to the industry that has provided their livelihoods for so many years.

What services/products does your company provide?
Both companies are full-service print distributors with significant involvement in promotional products and apparel. Though their customers represent varied industries, they specialize in healthcare and hospitality and are known for the highly personalized service they provide and the wide-range of specialty products that support vertical markets.

PSDA Staff Profile: Meet Nathan Davis

Get to know members of your association staff in selected editions of the Print Solutions e-newsletter. This week, we feature Nathan Davis.

What is your role on the PSDA staff team?
I work as a marketing associate alongside Marcie Valerio. Together, we plan and execute marketing strategies, produce email content and marketing collateral (i.e. event onsite guides, postcards, etc.) and much more. I'm also responsible for the gathering content, writing articles and distributing the Print Solutions e-newsletter.

Please describe the background and experiences that you are bringing to your role with PSDA.
I have a B.S. in Journalism and love to write and interview people. I interned in the marketing department at the SmithBucklin Corporation where I was involved in a variety of jobs, including: writing for association publications, html coding and sending association e-newsletters and emails, writing press releases and emails, copy editing print collateral, updating websites and a variety of other jobs.

What are your first impressions of PSDA and the membership?
My first impression of the PSDA membership came while I was at Print Solutions Conference and Expo. Everyone was friendly, outgoing and very optimistic about where PSDA is headed. I learned a lot about our member companies and how they want to further the value of the PSDA. Everyone was excited and involved from start to finish.

What is one "fun fact" or surprising piece of information about you?
I've always dreamed of being a sports commentator. In college, I produced my own campus-wide sports talk show on a local radio station. Every Wednesday night, 8,000+ university students could hear me and my guests discuss popular sports topics and listen to whatever music I wanted to play. I also performed stand-up comedy at open mic nights in local Pittsburgh venues for fun.

Enthusiast Media Group Receives 2011 Flesh Membership Award

The recipient of the Flesh Membership Award for 2011 is Enthusiast Media Group of Portland, OR. Started in 2005 with one employee by owner Wendie Martin, the business has grown to have seven employees and more than $10 million in annual sales.

"Enthusiast Media Group (EMG) is a forward-thinking, progressive company that is redefining the classic distributor model," said Dan Adkison, president of Strategic Print Alliance and president and chief operating officer of Wright Enterprises in Portland, OR. "It combines years of hands-on industry experience with a fresh new approach to serving its customers' changing needs. We enthusiastically endorse EMG as the recipient of the 2011 Flesh Membership Award. We look forward to supporting Wendie and her company through PSDA and Strategic Print Alliance."

In 2010, the members of Strategic Print Alliance established the Flesh Membership Award to honor the memory of Royal S. (Scud) Flesh. Under Flesh's leadership, The Flesh Company was a founding member of what is now PSDA. The Flesh Membership Award, sponsored by Strategic Print Alliance, funds the first year's dues in PSDA for a new member. The members of Strategic Print Alliance are Apex Color, Bradley Graphic Solutions, Printgraphics, Superior Business Associates, The Flesh Company and Wright Enterprises.

e-Quantum Announces New Marketing Executive

PSDA member e-Quantum, which specializes in distributor management and e-commerce software, recently announced that Cori Miller has joined its team as a marketing executive. In her new role, she will report to Susan Godfrey, e-Quantum’s marketing director. Boasting more than five years of marketing experience, Miller will help e-Quantum remain on the leading edge in technology. Her areas of expertise include creative design, project management, sales, social networking, advertising and event planning.

CE Printed Products Welcomes Martin Slusarz to Board of Directors

Martin Slusarz recently was named to the CE Printed Products Inc., Board of Directors. Slusarz was an executive with Discover Financial Services for more than 25 years and a key player in the spinoff of Discover from Morgan Stanley. Slusarz's work at Discover focused on increasing financial process efficiency of DFS and its acquisitions. Currently, Slusarz is a lecturer at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (Lake Forest, IL), the managing director of Martin Slusarz Consulting and an educator at Gerson Lehrman Group."Marty's experience and corporate knowledge will be a great asset as CE continues to grow as an industry leader in the envelope and stationery market," said Robert Ohr, president of CE Printed Products. "We look forward to working with him as we focus on the future of CE Printed Products."
