ProDocumentSolutions Inc. Welcomes Back Two Former Fledglings

Two former employees of PSDA member ProDocumentSolutions have returned to the company. Joyce Leiner, customer service manager and a previous 20-year employee, recently returned to her former position. Leiner brings back a can-do attitude, document creativity and a customer-first philosophy. Meanwhile, Carey McClellan has been hired as ProDocumentSolutions' Paso Robles facility plant manager. McClellan brings with him more than 30 years of printing experience, having previously worked for PrintXcel for the past 20 years. McClellan will be an asset in driving the company's continued overall production efficiencies, as well as the development of security document innovations.

Data Management Inc. Launches Website for Visitor Badge Product Line

PSDA member and print manufacturer Data Management Inc. (DMI) recently launched VisitorPassSolutions.com, a comprehensive e-commerce site for the company's fastest-growing product line. DMI's self-duplicating and self-expiring visitor badges help users save time and money while keeping better records and protecting employees and guests. Brian D. Gallagher, DMI's president and chief operating officer, said the new website is easier, more convenient and more secure. The website features quick informative videos, an online catalog, product and company news and events, as well as other security-related resources. VisitorPassSolutions.com was developed in partnership with Web Solutions Inc., a Connecticut-based Web design and Internet marketing company.

Wilmer Is First Approved Vendor for Georgia Prescription Pads

Longtime PSDA member Wilmer recently announced that it was the first company that received approval to sell prescription pads in the State of Georgia. Effective October 1, all manually signed hard copy Schedule II prescription drug orders must be on board-approved security paper that meets the requirements of paragraph (38.5) of Code Section 26-4-5. At press time, no grace period had been communicated. Wilmer worked with the Georgia Board of Pharmacy to gain firsthand knowledge of the changes to the prescription pads and obtain approval for production. More than 750 distributors purchase prescription-related forms through Wilmer.

MPX Expands Management Team with New Chief Operating Officer

Portland, Maine-based MPX, a PSDA member, recently hired Tim Cole as chief operating officer. Cole will oversee the internal operations at MPX and focus on optimizing efficiencies and fluidity within the program and account management teams, the diverse collection of suppliers, marketing and technology teams, and recently launched sister-company SFX America. Cole started his career working for IBM in Chicago. He also worked for 10 years at William Arthur until it was sold to Hallmark Cards; he then became the president of that company and helped the business grow to $26 million. Cole was most recently chief operating officer of Mariposa, a giftware business based in Massachusetts. MPX President and Chief Financial Officer Robert Willis and Chief Executive Officer Ryan Jackson say the hiring of Cole complements the company's culture and positions MPX for further success.

Relyco Partners with DSS to Develop Super Check, Receives Certification for REVLAR 7.7 mil Waterproof Paper

Relyco, a PSDA member and provider of value-added business printing and payment solutions, is partnering with Document Security Systems Inc., a provider of customized document protection solutions, to develop PROCHEK+PLUS™, the industry's first "Super Check." PROCHECK+PLUS is a secure blank laser check stock featuring 16 fraud deterring security features, including Securatek™ Copy Prevention Technology, the newest development in check security.

In other company news, Relyco's REVLAR 7.7 mil waterproof paper has been certified by the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Printing Applications Laboratory as a qualified substrate for use on Kodak NexPress Digital Production Color Presses. Fully laser-compatible REVLAR combines the image quality and printability of standard paper with durability and resilience. REVLAR laser paper is durable and weatherproof, impervious to grease and chemicals and is designed to withstand high and low temperature fluctuations.

Paradysz Releases Latest Study of Seasonal Patterns in Direct Mail Usage

Audience development agency Paradysz Research recently released its 2011 Seasonality Study of direct mail trends. According to the study, key direct mail months and overall seasonal patterns remain relatively stable for most consumer sectors despite continued economic challenges for marketers and consumers. The study's findings include the following points: Nonprofit acquisition mailings performed best in September and November; publishers continued to concentrate mail in January, September and December; the apparel category, which mails most heavily in advance of spring fashion season, saw its best performance in spring and early summer; and merchandisers continued to have a strong month in November due to saving mailings for year-end holidays. Although marketers still focus on seasonal strategies, Glenn Lalich, vice president of research and analysis at Paradysz, noted that opportunities for expansion and alternate seasonal testing exist.
