PSDA member Ennis Inc. acquired all assets of fellow PSDA member Printgraphics Inc. on Oct. 1. Printgraphics' two locations — in Ohio and Iowa — will continue producing their current products and services. The president of Printgraphics, Paul Curry, will continue in his role. On the acquisition, Curry said, "The acquisition of Printgraphics by Ennis will ensure the continued growth of the company … by allowing us to take advantage of their vast network of suppliers and economic strength." He also stressed that Printgraphics' customers would see no change in day-to-day interactions. Ennis President and Chief Executive Officer Keith Walters expressed his delight with having Curry and the Printgraphics team join Ennis and continue to offer quality products and services.
PSDA member Relyco, a business printing and payment solutions provider, recently released its comprehensive DURASEAL brand of business, security and specialty envelopes. DURASEAL is a high-quality, secure business envelope for any type of mailing, transport or interoffice application. Relyco carries a complete line of DURASEAL envelopes specially designed to protect the information being mailed out. The DURASEAL line of envelopes comes in every imaginable size (i.e., standard, large format, special), style and material (e.g., paper, poly, Tyvek). Relyco President Mike Steinberg emphasized how crucial well-made envelopes are, noting that Relyco's DURASEAL envelopes are guaranteed to perform and manufactured to very high standards.
PSDA member Gill Studios was honored with a visit from Kansas 3rd District Congressman Kevin Yoder on Thursday, Sept. 29. Yoder toured the facilities and met with employees throughout the plant. During the visit, he learned of Gill Studios' manufacturing capabilities and economic development within the region. Gill Studios representatives informed the congressman of its role in the promotional product industry and its importance to the business community. In recent years, Gill Studios has expanded into offset and digital print to supplement its award-winning screen and flexo printing. Diversified Labeling Solutions Inc., a trade-only manufacturer of pressure-sensitive labels, has opened a new production facility in Arlington, TX. The new plant will act as the primary production and distribution site for the company's print broker and value-added reseller clients in the Southwest. Diversified CEO James Kersten commented that the company's corporate strategy has always included developing a presence in Texas. Robert Hakman, owner and president of Diversified, is thrilled the company will have "a true nationwide footprint that will drive down costs and increase efficiencies for our dealer partners and their clients." The Texas-based facility will be led by industry veteran Skip Winans.
Ashland Performance Materials, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc., a specialty chemicals provider, has introduced a new product name, PureRad™, for its range of UV/EB coatings and adhesives previously sold under the NWC name. Ashland is currently working to complete the product transition to the new name before the end of the year. Rick Stokes, product manager for coatings and adhesives, performance materials, commented, "These products offer high aesthetics and superior performance, and by renaming the product line to PureRad, we pull together all of Ashland's high-quality UV/EB coatings and adhesives under one strong brand." In addition to the PureRad products, Ashland also offers the flexible packaging industry Purethane™ water-based laminating adhesives, Pureseal™ cohesive and heat-seal products and Purelam™ solvent-free laminating adhesives.
