The PSDA15 P2P Solutions Summit Is Over ... But It Was Great


Thank you to everyone who joined us in Chicago for the PSDA15 P2P Solutions Summit!

The event was a great success — with a sold out Peer Group Program and show floor — and we are looking forward to seeing everyone next year on April 11-13 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville for the 2016 P2P Solutions Summit.

PSDA's 2015 Top Distributor and Top Trade Printer surveys are now open.

Every year, PS Magazine publishes the results of these important industry surveys in the June/July and August issues, respectively. It only features the companies that respond, so if you don't complete the survey, you won't be recognized in these issues. Don't let us overlook you!

Respond to your respective survey by April 30. It should only take a few minutes to fill out. Even in you don't think you'll rank near the top of the list, we still hope you'll respond! PSDA Remembers James S. Mendicino

Industry professional James S. Mendicino passed away on April 1 at age 90. He was a graduate of Miami University, a WWII Navy veteran and was retired from Williamhouse-Regency. He was widely known and respected among forms manufacturers and served in several leadership positions of International Business Forms Industries (IBFI) — the forms manufacturers trade association — before it merged into DMIA/PSDA. He was also an active participant in PIA and the Black Leaf Honor Society of the Forms Industry. After retiring from Williamhouse-Regency, he continued to advise several forms and label manufacturers and maintain his many industry contacts.

Midwest Single Source Acquires Advanced Business Supplies

Midwest Single Source, a local, regional and national distributor and manufacturer, has announced the purchase of Advanced Business Supplies dba ABS Supplies, in Topeka, Kansas.

ABS Supplies was founded in 2002 in Topeka. The company specialized in manufacturing and decorating items such as name badges, awards, stamps, promotional products, laser engraving, and heat sublimation; all services Midwest Single Source currently provides to its customers.

"We are excited to make this announcement. Midwest Single Source is a company that continues to seek opportunities to better serve our customers. This acquisition allows for a stronger emphasis on production in our own facilities," said President Kevin Ulwelling. "ABS is a like-minded company that values the customer relationship and partnerships. The Topeka, Lawrence and Kansas City areas have great potential for growth, and we are now better equipped to infiltrate this region."
Label Works Earns Certificate of Excellence at 2015 American Package Design Awards

Label Works, a leader in wholesale label printing based in North Mankato, Minnesota, has been honored by Graphic Design USA (GDUSA) in the 2015 American Package Design Awards.

For more than 50 years, GDUSA has sponsored design competitions, and the American Package Design Awards is the fastest-growing competition in this decade. This year’s competition received over 2000 entries, of which roughly 15 percent were recognized as winners.

Label Works was honored with a certificate of excellence for a series of Whiskey Bottom Candle labels printed for Octavo Designs. The three label variations included were for the Hot Tottie, Whiskey Barrel and Cranberry Smash candle varieties, and a back label was also included.

"We're honored to be recognized by Graphic Design USA," said Bill Rose, general manager. "We're proud of every order we produce, and we appreciate being recognized for our efforts. What matters most is that our customers can continue to put their trust in us as their print partner."
Navitor Announces New 2000 PLUS Stamp Features

Navitor recently added new features in the popular 2000 PLUS line of personalized self-inking stamps. The new 2000 PLUS Standard Printer Series stamps will include a clear base that allows for more accurate impression placement.

Another feature of these new stamps is the ability to personalize them with new ImageCards for customization and personalization. Each stamp ships with an invitation to an image design studio on the 2000 PLUS website. This site includes free ImageCard templates that can be designed and printed from home.

"We are so excited to offer the newly designed 2000 PLUS stamp to our customers," said Chris Wiederkehr, business development manager for Navitor Stamps. "They are great for business promotion or for just personalizing a desk. The initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers keep saying they haven't seen something this unique and fun in the stamp market for a long time."

The new features come alongside the existing features of the 2000 PLUS stamp line, including five available ink colors, six available impression sizes and built-in Microban antimicrobial protection.
iPROMOTEu Launches A Woman's View Program

iPROMOTEu started a new initiative called A Woman's View, which was designed for the growing number of women in the promotional products industry. At iPROMOTEu, 43 percent of distributors are women, so the program aims to support the unique needs specific to the trade's businesswomen.

"I am very excited about the launch of A Woman's View for the female affiliates," said Candace Plunkett, iPROMOTEu's program manager. "It is no secret that women face unique challenges in the promotional product industry, and our goal is to provide comprehensive resources identified by the Women's Advisory Committee through various platforms. We are building a community for women where they can discover resources, discuss challenges and brainstorm solutions with fellow women affiliates. This is an exciting benefit and a tremendous value to all women and it is being offered exclusively to iPROMOTEu women affiliates."

Past A Woman's View webinars focused on developing effective elevator pitches plus networking tips and utilizing social media to boost revenue.

"It was motivational to get actionable ideas from other respected women in and outside of the promotional products industry," committee member Stephanie Zafarana said. "I look forward to my continued personal growth and involvement."
