Admore Produces White House Christmas Card

As creative producers of presentation folders and packaging, the Admore division of PSDA member Ennis, Inc., often finds ways to stand out. They did so this holiday season, on a card that pops up.

This wasn’t just any card — it was the official 2013 White House Christmas card. Admore, located in Macomb, Mich., had the honor of handling the foiling, die cutting and print production of the project.

“The White House and the Office of the President are American icons, and I am proud to say that Admore is now a small part of this history,” said Bill Tignanelli, general manager of Admore. “The card looks prestigious, and we were honored to do it.”

The front of the 6 3/4” x 5 3/4” folded card features a gold-foiled, multilevel embossed version of the presidential seal. When recipients open the card, a pop-up 3-D replica of the White House appears, along with tiny versions of “first dogs” Bo and Sunny. The card also includes the four signatures of Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama. Imprinted above the signatures is the message, “As we gather around this season, may the warmth and joy of the holidays fill your home.”

That message came directly from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, but the entire project was completed in Michigan. The card was conceptualized and designed by Chris Hankinson of Hilltop Studios LLC in Grand Rapids, who also owns and operates PopUpCards.com. Admore, which accepted the project in early July 2013, handled the printing, foiling and die cutting. Handy Bindery in Clinton Township was used for hand assembly. Champion Die Inc. in Comstock Park made the die used to manufacture the cards.

The card was funded by the Democratic National Committee. Admore was suggested not only because it’s a union shop (GCC/IBBT Local 2/289-M union), but also because the plant can handle orders of a large magnitude that require high quality, said Steven Osterloh, vice president of marketing for Ennis, Inc.

Tignanelli said Admore’s employees worked hard to produce preproduction samples as artwork changes were made and that the project galvanized them for a few months. “The whole shop knew about it, and as a matter of fact, we had to put postings up that reminded employees not to mention the project on social media or elsewhere.”

The First Family Christmas card, first established as a custom on a large scale in 1953 by former President Dwight Eisenhower, was mailed on the day after Thanksgiving, as well as the following Monday and Tuesday.

“To hear that our digital proofs and sample mock-ups went all the way into the White House for approval, that’s a source of pride for our team,” Tignanelli said. “We’re thrilled with the way it turned out, and look forward to other exciting projects in 2014.”

Marketing services provider and PSDA member Vanguard Direct produced an entertaining, funny Christmas video that included its entire staff in New York City. Flesh Company Unveils New Logo and Website



PSDA member The Flesh Company launched its new website on Jan. 1 and unveiled a new logo, which will be used in all corporate marketing and business communications. “2013 was a celebration year for us, but now it's time to move on,” said Roger Buck, the company's marketing director. “Our new website will offer distributors better access to our capabilities and education materials. This includes easy registration for our INSIGHTS newsletter and blog. We wanted to adapt our logo to better represent our widening print offering in business forms and labels."

The company plans to add new content on vertical markets as well as new whitepapers on a regular basis. In addition to ordering product kits, distributors will be able to contact the company's sales managers to schedule lunch-and-learn sessions for their sales team. Safeguard Distributor Schob & Schob Acquires NCF Graphic Solutions

Safeguard distributor Schob & Schob Inc. acquired NCF Graphic Solutions (NCF) of Santa Barbara, Calif., on Jan. 2. For more than 25 years, NCF has been supplying custom-printed business forms and promotional items to clients throughout the United States.

The acquisition was completed as part of PSDA member Safeguard's Business Acquisitions and Mergers program, which focuses its efforts on providing opportunities for existing and new Safeguard distributors to grow their business through acquisition and merger transactions. Safeguard provided transactional consulting in connection with the transaction. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.
SAGE Releases New Mobile App, SAGE Mobile 4.0

PSDA member SAGE recently released a new mobile app, SAGE Mobile 4.0 with many new features. The new Clients area in SAGE Mobile 4.0 follows the recent addition of full CRM capabilities to SAGE Online. Now distributors can access all of their client information on-the-go, including full company information, contact details and client history. Users can even add history notes for a client while on the road. All data is instantly synced with SAGE Online for a seamless user experience.

David Natinsky, SAGE's president, explained, “The new CRM area of SAGE Online is giving distributors a convenient, powerful way to manage their client interactions from their desktops and laptops. With this update to SAGE Mobile, distributors can now view all of that information while on the go.”

This latest release also includes several new features in the trade show planning area. Users can now completely manage their trade show experience from the graphical floor plan, including the ability to easily search for exhibitors anywhere on the floor plan. Users can now also identify education sessions they want to attend, view online versions of the product pavilions and much more. SAGE has also added a new, innovative feature called “walk order” that orders walk list exhibitors based upon the order that a person normally walks a trade show.
