PSDA Webinar Today: Members Collaborate on Cross-Media Campaign

PSDA Staff Profile: Meet Ryan Abell

Get to know members of your association staff in selected editions of the Print Solutions e-newsletter. This week, we feature Ryan Abell.

What is your role on the PSDA staff team?
As part of PSDA's sales team, I sell our various offerings to PSDA printer and supplier members. These offerings include advertising in Print Solutions Magazine and exhibits at and sponsorships of PSDA meetings and events.

Having been a PSDA staff member for a few years now, how do you feel about the future of the association?
PSDA has been given a shot of energy and new perspective, and I believe that this energy has gone beyond the staff and engaged many of our long-standing members. If you want to get involved with your association, now more ever before you will be able to shape so many elements of the association – from events to editorial content in the magazine and this e-newsletter.

What is your favorite PSDA memory or experience?
After working with PSDA for about a year, I was able to attend my first Print Solutions Conference & Expo in Baltimore in 2008. Coming from the sales side of PSDA, I had talked with many of our manufacturer members, but had limited contact with distributor members. Through meetings and discussions with distributor members, I obtained a better understanding of the needs of each member segment and the relationship between distributors and manufacturers. I was able to bring that that enhanced understanding into my role on the sales team.

What is one "fun fact" or surprising piece of information about you?
I play in an Adult Kickball league in Washington, DC. Last year, I managed "Team Bigfoot" to the championship game, but we had to settle for second place.

The Cooley Group Unveils New Brand Identity, Business Approach

An online store and ordering system for all printed and promotional pieces is available, with releases made in minutes and orders shipped within 48 hours or less. Cooley also offers real-time inventory monitoring, order tracking and automatic proofing, along with many other technologically advanced, client-accessible features.

PSDA Member NPC Receives Most Work from U.S. Government Printing Office

Of the more than 1,300 print suppliers that obtained work from the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) during the fourth quarter of 2010 (4Q10), PSDA member News Printing Corporation (NPC) of Claysburg, PA, won the most work, with $6,341,567 awarded to the firm. The value of all GPO work awarded during 4Q10 (October through December) was $66 million. NPC also was the 3Q10 leader with $5,650,511 in GPO work won and the 1Q10 leader with $5,395,169 in GPO work. NPC was the top GPO print supplier in all of 2010, as it was in 2009.

Sue Flottman Stellar Receives Regional Printer of the Year Honor

Sue Flottman Steller, president of PSDA member Flottman Company Inc., a full-service graphic communications company founded in 1921, will be recognized as the 2011 Printer of the Year by the Printing Industries of Ohio – N. Kentucky. Stellar began working at the Flottman Company, the family printing business, in 1977 and took over as one of the co-owners in 1993. She has held the title of president since 2003.

Formax Introduces Two New Products

PSDA member Formax, an industry leader in the design, engineering, sales and support of paper processing equipment, recently introduced the new FD 260 Tabbing System and the FD 1500 Plus Low-Volume Pressure Sealer. The FD 260 tabs up to 15,000 pieces per hour, using a variety of tab stocks including clear, paper and translucent, in both 1-inch and 1.5-inch sizes. A built-in waste take-up spool reduces down time. The FD 1500 Plus features a drop-in top-feed system for easy set-up and operation, pre-marked popular folds, a resettable counter and the capacity to process forms up to 14 inches in length. A compact design and processing speed of up to 5,200 forms per hour make this a welcome addition to any small business, school or municipality.

2011 e-Quantum Client Conference Planned

The 2011 e-Quantum Client Conference will bring together users of e-Quantum software, as well as industry suppliers and manufacturers. The event will be held April 4-6, 2011, in San Antonio, TX, at the Riverwalk Westin Hotel. This year's keynote speaker will be Jennifer Matt of Web2Print Experts Inc. Matt is an independent consultant, focusing on the intricacies of print-enabled e-commerce (web-to-print). The conference also will feature thought leaders from PSDA member e-Quantum, as well as several clients and strategic partners who will focus on the future of the print industry and how best to engage with customers and prospects in a buyer-driven environment.
