PSDA's 15th Annual CEO Summit Wraps Up

More than 100 PSDA members, staff and guests gathered in New Orleans last week for the 15th Annual CEO Summit. The event kicked off Feb. 9 with the PSDA Give-Back Project followed by an evening networking reception. Sessions on Thursday and Friday included presentations and workshops focusing on repositioning your business in a changing market, compensation and workforce trends, cross media campaign management and maximizing shareholder value. Event photos are at, and a video of opening remarks by PSDA Executive Vice President Matt Sanderson is on PSDA's YouTube channel. Submit Your Entries for 2011 PEAK Awards

PSDA is now accepting submissions for the 2011 Print Excellence and Knowledge (PEAK) Awards. This prestigious competition highlights unique and successful print and marketing applications and honors the work of print professionals who have creatively and consistently led successful projects for their customers. Submit your best work and be recognized for:

  • Providing outstanding value-added products and services through creativity in design, production, fulfillment and other service
  • Providing solutions to industry problems
  • Improving business functions

The 2011 PEAK Awards will be judged by a panel of industry peers. Winners will be announced during the 2011 PEAK Awards presentation ceremony Wednesday, May 18 on the Expo floor.

But be careful — hotel brokers have contacted PSDA members to solicit the purchase of hotel rooms. These brokers are misrepresenting PSDA as well as the status of room rates and availability at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, the official conference hotel. These brokers are not affiliated or endorsed by PSDA and have been known to accept payment without confirming room reservations. If this occurs, the hotel has no obligation to provide you with the accommodations you were expecting. Do not fall victim to this practice — disregard any communications from brokers and book your room directly with the hotel.

Graphic Dimensions Names New National Sales Manager

PSDA member Graphic Dimensions recently named Al Havens to the new position of national sales manager. Before joining Georgia-based Graphic Dimensions, the 40-year industry veteran served as vice president of sales for Cenveo's Custom Resale Group brands: Printegra, PrintXcel, Wisco and National Imprint Corporation. Havens' background includes plant management and sales. "His professional and leadership experience will have a positive impact for our entire sales team," said Jay Scammell, president of Graphic Dimensions.

PSDA member Ward/Kraft Inc. recently made several announcements regarding new services and products. Ward/Kraft has added a line of Laser & Thermal printable Drum/Pail labels to its current label offerings. The Drum/Pail labels are constructed with long-lasting inks, adhesives and face stocks, creating labels suited for indoor and outdoor use. In addition, Ward/Kraft has implemented faster turnaround times and lower pricing by offering a wide assortment of stock integrated products. Distributors can extend the benefits of same-day shipping, low minimum quantities and guaranteed desktop printer compatibility to their customers. Ward/Kraft currently offers 21 stock integrated card and label options. These options are available in low minimum order quantities and ship within 24 hours. Also, Ward/Kraft has increased its offline services to provide print resellers a single plastic card solution. The Ward/Kraft Commercial Division provides distributors with a single-source solution for plastic card manufacturing and value-added offline finishing services.

Specialty Advertising Association of California Becomes SAGE Affiliate

The Specialty Advertising Association of California (SAAC) and PSDA member SAGE recently announced that SAAC has become a SAGE Affiliate. As a SAGE Affiliate, members of SAAC are entitled to discounts on a variety of SAGE services, such as SAGE Online, SAGE Mobile, SAGE WebExpress Pro, SAGE WebStore and SAGE Company Store. In addition to discounts on SAGE services, SAGE will also provide SAAC members with a variety of services as part of the relationship, including an association website and access to SAGE's marketing resources. SAGE, based in Carrollton, TX, is a provider of information, business management and marketing solutions to the promotional products industry.

Trade Printer 4over Expanding into Toronto, Other Cities

According to a report by PrintCAN, trade printer 4over, a featured advertiser in Print Solutions magazine, will be operational in Toronto by mid-2011. 4over has expanded from a single building in 2003 to eight fully operational facilities, including locations in California, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, Florida and New Jersey. Its production facilities range from 42,000 square feet to 105,000 square feet and are equipped with the state-of-the-art presses and finishing equipment.
