This PSDA exclusive event is designed for distributors with annual sales volumes of less than $2.5 million. How did you hear about PSDA?
We heard about PSDA the old-fashioned way: word of mouth from current members.

What are your primary reasons for joining PSDA?
PSDA has a lot to offer its members including exclusive industry events. With our PSDA membership, we're hoping to attend as many conferences as possible, especially the Print Solutions Conference and Expo.

What services/products does your company provide?
We can help PSDA members construct an optimum marketing mix and design a marketing campaign from concept to completion, using a combination of several methods, including direct mail, text messaging, Web design, door-to-door, email, and newspaper.

PSDA Staff Profile: Meet Jason Roe

Get to know members of your association staff in selected editions of the Print Solutions e-newsletter. This week, we feature Jason Roe.

What is your role on the PSDA staff team?
Everything financial and accounting related. This includes monthly financials, cash management, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, audits and taxes.

Please describe the background and experiences that you are bringing to your role with PSDA.
Half of my career was spent working as an auditor primarily with Ernst and Young. The other half of my career I've spent with large to medium sized private and public companies. I use all my experience in my role with PSDA to create innovative solutions to the association's unique challenges.

As a new member of the PSDA staff team, what are you hoping to accomplish?
Working primarily with the Treasurer and Finance and Audit Committee, I'm very impressed with the dedication and passion they have for the association.

What is one "fun fact" or surprising piece of information about you?
I'm a complicated guy. I married my high school sweetheart, have three daughters and am a workout maniac. I have two gym memberships plus equipment in my basement to make sure I'm covered no matter how busy my schedule is. I also own two small businesses: a salon/ day spa and a real estate investment company. And yes, I use local printers for both businesses.

Data Management Inc. Introduces New Visitor Badges

PSDA member Data Management Inc. recently introduced its self-duplicating visitor passes for hospitals to have secure yet family-friendly identification and tracking of its visitors. The passes can be printed with the word “parent," "family," "caregiver," "advocate” or any other title instead of "visitor," for no extra charge, as well as with the name or logo of the hospital and any other information desired.

"The best way to make sure that your child receives the care that he or she needs is by being an active member of the health care team," said Mark R. Chassin, M.D., president of The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, which helps parents do just that as part of its Speak Up™ program.

RR Donnelley and HarperCollins Announce Intent to Enter Into Strategic Printing and Supply Chain Management Agreement

PSDA member RR Donnelley and HarperCollins Publishers announced their intent to enter a breakthrough global supply chain agreement. Under the terms of the proposed agreement, beginning in November 2011, RR Donnelley will handle the fulfillment of all HarperCollins new releases from its Harrisonburg, VA facility. Additionally, beginning in July 2012, RR Donnelley will handle fulfillment of all frontlist and backlist titles for Zondervan, a division of HarperCollins Publishers. RR Donnelley will also provide global Print on Demand (POD) services to HarperCollins, enabling most titles to be printed anywhere HarperCollins holds publishing rights. The agreement also renews and expands RR Donnelley's role as the printer, binder and distributor of HarperCollins' conventionally produced titles.

Sappi Introduces New Digital Design Center

Sappi Fine Paper North America recently launched its new Digital Design Center, a web application that allows printers to create custom marketing tools to promote their own digital printing capabilities. Upon completion of an online registration, Sappi's Digital Design Center invites printers to customize the marketing tool by inputting print shop specific information based on topics such as: products, services and sustainability. Each printer can choose a portfolio of high-resolution, premium images to print along with their customized marketing piece. Images from the automotive, fashion, pharmaceutical, retail and travel industries are provided from Friend+Johnson.

acpo ltd. Introduces Thermal Transfer Printable Overlaminate With Matte Finish

Self-wound overlaminate film manufacturer acpo ltd. introduced 531T, a matte polypropylene thermal transfer printable PSA roll label film. 531T is a linerless overlaminate that provides label surface protection and thermal transfer printability for variable data on pre-printed labels. Constructed with a 1 mil matte biaxially-oriented polypropylene film and .5 mil water emulsion acrylic adhesive, 531T offers excellent acid, chemical and oil resistance. In conjunction with their launch of 531T, acpo ltd. has updated their thermal transfer overlaminate product line with ribbon recommendations and chemical testing data for optimum overlaminate and ribbon compatibility performance.
