PSDA Members, Staff Convene at Graph Expo

Many PSDA members and staff were out in force this week at Graph Expo in Chicago. The annual event featured many PSDA member manufacturers and suppliers (such as B&W Press, pictured) who were exhibiting at the show and showcasing newly released products, technologies and services. PSDA Welcomes The Order of the Black Leaf

Members of The Order of the Black Leaf (Honorary Society of The Manifold Forms Industry) convened at PSDA's Chicago headquarters last week to plan the group's strategy for 2011 and meet with select members of the association's staff. The exclusive group is for people who have contributed at least 10 years of service to the business forms industry and have served on at least one major industry board or similar group, such as the PSDA Board of Directors or the Print Education & Research Foundation (PERF) Board of Trustees. Among those who gathered in Chicago were:

Ennis Acquires Atlas Tag & Label Inc. Assets

Texas-based Ennis Inc. recently announced the acquisition of certain assets of fellow PSDA member company Atlas Tag & Label Inc. The operation will expand the company's capabilities in the tag and label product lines sold through the indirect sales (distributorship) marketplace. Customers can continue contacting Atlas using the same methods as before. No changes to day-to-day operations have been made, and Atlas will continue to operate in its Wisconsin facility. "Atlas Tag & Label is an exciting addition to the Ennis family," said Keith Walters, Chairman, President and CEO of Ennis. "This acquisition expands our tag and label capabilities and capacity while adding new customers. Like Ennis, Atlas has been serving the distributor market for more than 80 years, and we feel this addition will positively impact customers of both companies."

Company Completes Analog-to-Digital Transition with HP Presses

Jeppesen – a Boeing Commercial Airplanes subsidiary that delivers aviation charts, data and operational tools for the global transportation industry – is converting its remaining analog offset chart-printing operations to digital production after a multimillion-dollar purchase of five HP Indigo W7200 digital presses. The upgrade is expected to reduce waste and improve operational flexibility. The five-press deal is one the largest installations ever completed for continuous-feed Indigo presses. MORE

Magazine Association Unveils New Brand

Reflecting the growing ways – online and offline – that magazine content reaches consumers, industry leaders unveiled a new name, tagline and logo for their trade group: MPA – The Association of Magazine Media. By adopting the well-established initials, MPA, as the organization's formal name and dropping "publishers" from its tagline, MPA is underscoring the fact that magazine media content engages consumers across multiple platforms, including print, websites, tablets, smartphones, live events and more. MPA officially launched its new name and logo to its membership at the annual American Magazine Conference on Monday, Oct. 4, in Chicago. MORE
