HIC 2010 Digital Hospital Design

Digital Healthcare Design - a HISA Special Interest Group is proud to bring you this inaugural event.

In Australia, there are over $30 billion worth of hospitals in the design or construction phase. The development of these new facilities will frame the way we deliver care in the next 15 years. Information technology in healthcare will play a critically important role in defining that future.

If you are involved in the design or delivery of healthcare, you need to participate in the discussions with opinion leaders to influence the development of these facilities.

In particular, you need to understand the role of information technology in this evolution and be part of guiding and catalysing its influence.

This workshop brings together architects, engineers, systems designers, clinicians and health IT specialists to look at the role of information technology in the physical design of the hospital of the future. In particular, it will look at the interface between the built environment and information technology, investigating how we can better design the physical environment in concert with the information infrastructure to deliver on the objective of cost effective, high quality, patient centred care.

Held over two days, the workshop will consist of keynote speakers, followed by delegate workshop sessions and panel discussions of the outputs. The areas covered will encompass the clinical, operational, social and education/research aspects of a hospital's charter. The final output of the workshop will be a digital hospital framework that will contribute to establishing IT design criteria for the National Hospital Building Guidelines.

We have brought together an outstanding group of experts in this field including:
