Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium Annual Conference Call for Papers

This is a call for abstracts of presentations, panel discussions, posters or project demonstrations to be considered as part of the 12th Annual Conference of the Minnesota GIS/LIS Consortium, October 2-4, 2002, in Duluth, Minnesota. Presentations are invited that address the broad subjects of interest to GIS and LIS practitioners.

        Location Analysis, Risk Management, Marketing, Real Estate
  • Data Acquisitions and Conversion
        Data Collection Technologies, Data Conversion
        Data Distribution, Purchasing Digital Data
  • Global Positioning Systems
  • Internet/WWW
        Internet-based Applications, Internet-based Data Acquisition
  • Local and Regional Government
        Criminal Justice, Demographics, Emergency Response, Housing,

        Students conducting research using GIS-related technologies are invited to present their work at the conference and meet with other practicioners in the field.

  • Utilities and Automated Mapping

The objective of the conference is to provide GIS-related informational and educational opportunities for anyone in business, government, or education interested in geographic analysis. The program committee will select presentations to represent a wide range of interests and levels of expertise.

The submission deadline for presentations, titles, and abstracts (150-300 words) is June 24, 2002.

Selection will be based on the value of the proposed topic to the audience and the clarity of the abstract. Everyone submitting an abstract will be contacted by the conference committee.

Four types of presentations are available: 1) individual, 2) panel discussion, 3) poster and 4) project demonstration. Individual presentations will be allotted 25 minutes. Panel discussions will be allotted 60-90 minutes. Each poster display area is four feet high by eight feet wide. The project demonstrations will allow presenters to set up a computer demonstration of a GIS project or application.

Presentations by exhibitors which market specific products or services may be accepted as product demonstrations. Promotional products or services are also welcome in the exhibit hall. Information regarding product demonstrations and exhibit space will be mailed to prospective vendors in June.
