Keynote Speakers
On Thursday, October 11, the Opening Plenary Session will be given by: The topic of the keynote presentation will be the Master Address File and the Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (MAF/TIGER) Modernization Program, a major effort by the Bureau to improve the coordinate accuracy of TIGER and to develop a system for the continuous updating of TIGER and MAF. A key aspect of the program will be the focus on developing partnerships with the private sector and state and local governments. On Friday, October 12, the Closing Luncheon speaker will be James Pisarowicz from Windcave National Park in South Dakota. Honored in 1990 with the prestigious Lew Bicking Award by the National Speleological Society for a career of outstanding cave exploration, Pisarowicz will share his experiences from an exploration of Sumidero Santa Elena, a large river cave in the northern region of the Mexican state of Puebla.
